IDENTITY (MALAYALAM, 2025)

Here is the first sentence I dedicate to the hopeful journey towards my story telling.

To begin with, Identity, a 2025 malayalam movie, which i felt was a simple thriller story. The movie revolves around a few characters initially, but becomes slightly confusing as the story progresses with the addition of new characters. The theme of the movie is about how a witness to a crime becomes entangled in a complicated situation. The story is easy to follow in the first half, but the second half requires more attention to detail. Personally, I found the movie engaging throughout, and the experience was exciting.

Let's dive into the story. As I mentioned earlier, the story is simple, and there's no need to elaborate excessively. The movie introduces several new topics and ideas to the audience, some of which may be familiar, but the filmmakers still manage to explain them effectively for those who are unaware of it. The movie relies on these concepts to create an exciting experience for the audience. The pacing of the story is well-balanced, with no noticeable lag while watching. The inclusion of multiple characters is necessary for the movie, while making sure of any unnecessary scenes. Overall, the story is enjoyable.

Moving on to the script and editing, I'm unsure which aspect makes the simple story slightly complicated. As the story progresses, it jumps between the past and present without noticeable transitions, which may confuse some viewers. However, I found this non-linearity intriguing, as it adds a layer of mystery to the story. For viewers who likes to do other activities while watching it, could miss the small details and will be challenging to follow the rest of it. Even with the non-linear timeline, the movie maintains a good balance.

The cast delivers excellent performances, with Tovino and Vinay standing out in their roles. It was good to see Trisha back in a malayalam movie again, and Shammi Thilakan's acting was delightful. The direction by Anas Khan and Akhil Paul is impressive. My experience with the movie was excellent.

Finally, I appreciate the effort put into the camera work, which resulted in stunning visuals and effects. The cinematography makes the shots beautiful and the scenes more engaging. The action scenes are well-executed, combining good performances from the actors and excellent camera work. Some shots in the fight scenes are brilliant and showcase the filmmakers' skill. The movie is a perfect blend of art and entertainment.
